Kinnickinnic River Cleanup

On Saturday, April 21, volunteers cleaned up the Kinnickinnic River to celebrate Earth Day.


This gas mask was one of the unusual things found during the clean up. Others include: tires, barrels, sheets of metal, cell phones and a shopping cart.

  • UWRF studetns from Ducks Unlimited cleaned up the Kinni through the University.
  • Volunteers filled two, four-yard dumpsters and one-half of a recycling dumpster with trash found along the banks of the Kinni.
  • Over 75 tires where found in or around the Kinnickinnic River.
  • Volunteers used kayaks to get to some of the more treacherous parts of the river.
  • Volunteers young and old came out on Saturday, April 21 to clean up the Kinnickinnic River.
