•
Debbie Griffin photos

Doug Hanson said the 'extreme makeover'of both the River Falls and Hudson Golf Clubs has been a family-team effort among him and his dad, Chris, as well as siblings Jon, Debbie and Brian.
• The golf club's pro shop expanded to about four times the size of the old one and includes officially licensed UW(Bucky Badger) and U of M (Goldy Gopher) merchandise.
• The bar at the River Falls Golf Club sports a new orientation -- the east instead of the south -- and includes new bartop, big-screen TVs, stools, chairs, tables and beer coolers.
• The Hanson family refurbished the ballroom, making some structural modifications, adding chandeliers, gutting the kitchen, installing a state-of-the-art audio/visual system and redoing the floor. Nearly everything is new except for the wooden dance floor -- an original that club members wanted to keep.
• Golf club owners completed gutted all the bathrooms -- expanding the ones on the main floor and completely remodeling the downstairs ones.
• People can now go upstairs and downstairs at the club in two places -- a new stairway in the pro shop or a new elevator.
• The RFGC's lower level now includes facilities for both genders including bathrooms, showers and locker room.
• Doug Hanson said the rows of big lockers are made from hickory wood.
• RFGC made the women's lounge bigger, adding a generous dressing area with homey furniture to accommodate bridal parties and other groups who may need a place to "get ready" for their event.
• RFGC's new owners poured a big, new, L-shaped patio where they'll place tables. Doug Hanson said many members took home one or some of the paver stones that used to be outside where the patio is now.
• The outdoor area at RFGC now includes a pergola structure that shelters an outdoor cooking area with a grill and refrigerator.
