  • State officials chose this 35-foot Balsam fir tree for harvesting and use as the state's official Christmas tree. It will be decorated and featured in a Dec. 4 lighting ceremony at the capitol in Madison.
  • Professionals from Leonard's Cat & Backhoe service in Ellsworth and from Great Lakes Timber Professionals donated time and equipment to harvest the capitol tree.
  • The truck transporting the tree to Madison repositioned itself a few times so that it supported the big tree exactly right.
  • NorTRAX, an Eau Claire-based John Deere dealer, provided an excavator to help harvest the state's offical Christmas tree.
  • Volunteers used an enormous tarp to cover the tree for its trip to Madison via donated services from Richard Delany Trucking in Warrens.
