Edward Vincent Marek Jr., age 71, of River Falls, died Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Gathering at Boutwell’s Landing, Oak Park Heights, Minn.
Edward was born on April 9, 1939, in Prescott, Wis., the son of Edward Sr. and Myrtle (Arell) Marek. He attended school in Prescott. From 1962-1964, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and France. Edward married Judy Von Kuster on June 20, 1964, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, River Falls.
He went to vocational school in St. Paul and worked as a journeyman tool and die maker for the H.D. Hudson Mfg. Co. in Hastings, Minn., for 44 years. Following his retirement he worked for Behrens Motor Supply Co. in River Falls.
Ed loved gardening, reading, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends at their cabin. He was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church-River Falls, the American Legion in Prescott, and Pierce County Voiture 40 & 8.
Ed is survived by his wife, Judy, River Falls; three sons, Tom (Carol) Marek, Austin, Texas, Dan Marek, Wyoming, and Ken Marek, Champlin, Minn.; one granddaughter, Caitlin Marek, North Branch, Minn.; brother, Lloyd (Mary) Marek, Lake Nebagamon, Wis.; sister, Helen (Jim) Rasmussen, St. Paul, Minn. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, River Falls, Wis. Fr. Gerald Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Swede and Chad Svoboda, Jack Ames, Jeff Maas, Ron Radke, and Bruce Johnson.
