Eunice E. (Brooke) Dahms, 90, died on Oct. 15.
Born on Oct. 11, 1921, to Arthur and Marie Brooke of Spring Valley, Eunice was one of 11 children.
Eunice married Elmer "Pete" Dahms on Oct. 25, 1941. Together they had seven children. The family lived in Spring Valley until 1959 when they moved to River Falls. They purchased the Cozy Lunch Café and Greenwood Grocery, later known as the Falls Café. After selling the business in 1970, Eunice worked in food services at UWRF until she retired in 1992. Not one to be idle, she continued to work part-time at the River Falls Senior Center until 2003 when she retired at the age of 82.
Eunice loved to share time with her family and friends and seldom refused an opportunity to play cards. She traveled whenever she could, enjoyed ballroom dancing when she was in her 60s, and was always up for a trip to the casino. Cooking and baking were lifelong passions, and she fed everyone who came to visit. The cookie jar in her home was always full, and the coffee pot was always on.
Eunice is survived by her children Bonnie Wheeler, Hudson; Wendy Schussler, W. St. Paul; Deb (John) Larson, River Falls; Margie (Kent) Miller, Steele, N.D.; and Peter (Connie) Dahms, River Falls. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jack Wheeler, Clint Delander, Ashley Stohl, Melanie Lebens, Mona Thompson, Molly Nolan, Donnie Dahms, Danielle Dahms, and six great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Adeline Langer, Ada Hughes, Gloria Duffy, and brothers Dick, Bob (Margie), and Dale (Dianne) Brooke, along with many nieces and nephews, also mourn her passing.
Eunice was preceded in death by Elmer Dahms; her daughter Sherrie Cosgrove; son Donavon Dahms; grandson Joey Wheeler; granddaughter Mindy Dahms; brothers John, Walter, Coburn, and Byron Brooke.
The funeral will be held at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. Visitation will be held at the church 1 hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Valley on the same date.
The family requests memorials to the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Pierce County, 412 W. Kinne St. P.O. Box 540, Ellsworth, WI 54011.
