Edward E. Miller, "Eddie," age 80, Post Commander of Fletcher-Pechacek Post 121 in River Falls, passed away at his home on Friday, Jan. 25.
Edward E. Miller, "Eddie," age 80, Post Commander of Fletcher-Pechacek Post 121 in River Falls, passed away at his home on Friday, Jan. 25.
He was instrumental in the Veterans Memorial in Greenwood Cemetery and the recent beautification of the American Legion Hall in River Falls. Born to Celia and Elery Miller on Feb. 23, 1932, in River Falls, Wis., Ed attended school in Prescott and graduated from River Falls High School. Eddie served in the Navy from 1951 to 1953 in California. He attended and received his bachelor's degree at UWRF, master's degree at UW Superior, and specialist degree at Northern Michigan University. He was a coach and teacher in several Wisconsin school systems and principal at Menomonie High School before starting his 22-year career at 3M in vehicle registration as a technical service specialist. On Nov. 7, 1951, he wed Janice Solum.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Miller; sons, Jeff (Barb) Miller, Chris (Jean) Miller; grandson, Matt Miller; brother, Jerry (Debbie) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls on Friday, Feb. 1, starting at 12 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the Fletcher-Pechacek Post 121.
Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
