Jeffrey "Jeff" Paul Kay, 48, of River Falls, Wis., died Saturday, Oct. 13, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones and under the care of Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, Minn.

Jeffrey "Jeff" Paul Kay, 48, of River Falls, Wis., died Saturday, Oct. 13, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones and under the care of Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, Minn.

He was born on April 5, 1964, in River Falls, to Eugene and Irene (Breslin) Kay. He graduated high school from River Falls High School in 1983. Following high school, he attended Stout and went on to earn a degree at CVTC in Eau Claire, Wis. Jeff owned and operated his own business called Microbe Guard that was a mold abatement business. Jeff married Ruth Stokke on Sept. 9, 1989, at Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Menomonie, Wis.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth; daughters, Shelby and Amber Kay; grandson, Wyatt Matzek; and mother, Irene Kay of River Falls; siblings Danny (Marilyn) Kay, Susan (Joe) Brown, Richie Kay, Phil (Karen) Prowse, Joe (Dawn) Kay; parents-in-law, Delvin and Judy Stokke; brothers- and sisters in-laws, Kathy Kay, Lori (John) Beiswanger, Bill (Laurie) Stokke, Randy (Bobbie) Stokke, Tyler Stokke, and Julie (Chad) Schlough; and further survived by many nieces and nephews and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Kay, and his brother Leslie Kay.

Jeff was a gentle giant with a very unassuming manner about him but with a larger-than-life presence. He loved his family, especially his daughters and grandson, Wyatt. He had a ton of friends and loved to golf; spend time with his family; bird watch, especially humming birds in his backyard; hunt and fish. He also loved taking his chocolate labs, Abby and Tucker, hunting and for walks. He will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial for Jeff will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, River Falls, and 1 hour prior to the Mass Thursday at the church.
