Arlene Loraine "Tootie" Hilden (Cudd), age 84, born Nov. 15, 1927, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on May 30 at the River Falls Area Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born to John and Hannah Cudd, she lived most of her life in River Falls. She graduated from River Falls High School in 1946 and married Clifford Hilden 3 years later. Together they were blessed with three children: Alan, Cindy, and Larry.
Foremost in her life was the deep love she had for her family. Her most joyful times were spent with her children, grandchildren, siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews, and her many friends.
She was employed at Swift & Company, Whirlpool, and Minnesota Mining, from which she retired. Strong and determined, she worked especially hard at raising her children, and she took great pride in her family and in the home that she meticulously maintained.
She loved life and it loved her right back. What a wonderful zest for living she had! And the memory of her marvelous sense of humor and gregarious laugh will ever bring a smile to the rest of us. She lived her life passionately and never failed to let you know what she was thinking - no holding back for Arlene. One of her greatest pleasures was playing cards, and she loved every minute of it. She played as often as possible and she was quite the card shark!
Thoughtful, caring - not to mention funny - she was always ready to help out. When you spent time with her, her generous spirit made you feel as if you were the most important person in the world. It was a gift from her heart to all who knew her.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, John and Hannah Cudd; her brothers Walter, Paul, Herbert, Gene and Tom; her sisters, Helen (Bitterman) and Alice (Johnson).
She is survived by her children, Alan (Diana), Cindy Gregor (Jimmy) and Larry (Cory); her loving grandchildren, Joseph, Alicia Rivard, Travis, Skyler; two grandchildren through marriage, Josh Bramley, Ashley Bramley; two delightful great-grandchildren, Dakota and Destini; brother John Cudd Jr. (Dorothy); sisters-in-law Janet (Paul) and Dorothy (Tom); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, with her Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. We invite you to join us in the commemoration of Arlene's remarkable life.
Cashman-Hill Funeral Home and Cremation Services, River Falls is handling the arrangements. Please visit www.hillfuneralservice.com to leave an online condolence.
