Wayne Charles Thompson, age 76, died Feb. 22 at the Comforts of Home in Hudson, Wis.

Wayne Charles Thompson, age 76, died Feb. 22 at the Comforts of Home in Hudson, Wis.

Wayne was born on Oct. 8, 1935, in Little Falls, Wis., to Peter and Thea (Everson) Thompson. He attended and graduated from Amery schools. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He married Karen Johnson in November 1957. He later married Peggy Matz in June 1973. Wayne was self-employed for 28 years as a Phillips 66 Oil Jobber. At the age of 49 he was disabled due to a gunshot wound while on vacation in Mexico. He lived most of his life in Wisconsin, Arizona and Colorado.

He enjoyed his cabin, hunting, fishing, and golf. His family will carry on his love for Norwegian traditions, singing, and dancing. Wayne will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy of River Falls; children, Bryan (Michele) Thompson, Craig (Julie) Thompson, Tracy Toland, Karri (Keith) Van Dell, and Samantha (Mike) Cain; grandchildren Jeremy Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Zachary Toland, Kyle Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Bailey Toland, Heidi Van Dell, Katie Thompson, Miranda Van Dell, Emma Van Dell, Gabi Van Dell; siblings Ruth Goodspeed, Betty (Homer) Williams, Sonja Rutcosky, and Fern Thompson; and many nephews and nieces.

Wayne was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Wayne Thompson; sisters Gladys Marquand and Edna Hayes.

A special thanks to all the family, friends, and staff at Comforts of Home in Hudson.

A funeral service for Wayne will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Luther Memorial Church in River Falls with Reverend Michael Scholz officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery in Amery, Wis.
