June Nelson, age 90, of Roberts, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 10, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.

June was born on June 4, 1921, in Jerseytown, Penn., the daughter of Francis and Jenny (Beagle) Allbeck. She was raised in Pennsylvania where she graduated from Millville High School in 1939. She went to Plainsboro, N.J., where she worked as a governess for two small children. There, she met Roger Nelson and would be married Oct. 26, 1940. This union would be blessed with three sons: Dennis, Dean, and Dan. In 1942, they made Wisconsin their home.

She had the privilege of being a homemaker while Roger tended to the family farm. She cherished being a mom whose homemade rolls and chicken and dumpling dinners always put smiles on her boys' faces. Her grandchildren remember that she kept the barn neat as a pin, helped at chore time feeding calves and cleaning pens, and kept everything in working order. She loved to knit and was known for her handmade washcloths and mugrugs. She also enjoyed both her flower and vegetable gardens and looking after her songbirds with topped off feeders. She and Roger enjoyed polka and waltz dances which always brought a smile to her face and a kick in her step. She really lit it up when the music played and she could dance for hours. She also took great pleasure from being the local Avon representative for nearly 25 years. She was active in the community. She thoroughly enjoyed her time in Homemakers, American Heritage Care Center Auxiliary, Roberts Senior Center, and Roberts UCC where she helped on the Women's Fellowship and New England Dinners.

She will be fondly remembered by her sons Dennis and Dan (Jacque), both of Roberts; grandchildren, Darrell, Steve (Roxy), Denise (Aaron) Scott, Tony (Angie), Dena (Bob) Casey, Lori (Tony) Jurek, Sue (J.) Kelm, Stacy (Josh) Walker, Sherry Nelson, Evan Nelson; great-grandchildren, Tracy, Jenny (Cory), Corynne, Logan, Ella, Audra, Allyson, Adam, Kate, Megan, Mary, Kelsey, AJ, Ryley, Tanner, Gaby, Tyson, Lexi, Anthony, Hayley, and Alyna; sister Millie Edwards; and daughter-in-heart Judy (Bill) Snoeyenbos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son Dean; daughter-in-law Faye Nelson; siblings Alba, Alvin, Jessie, Robert, Barbara, Frank, Stanley, Paul, and Lester.

The Celebration of Life for June will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Roberts United Church of Christ in Roberts. Private interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls with her grandchildren serving as bearers. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin as well as 1 hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday morning. Memorials preferred.
