Sonya Kay (Van) Renteria, age 59, of River Falls, Wis., died on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Lutheran Home.
Sonya Kay (Van) Renteria, age 59, of River Falls, Wis., died on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1952, to Vernon and Virginia (Brown) Van in Plum City, Wis. She grew up in Plum City and Red Wing but lived in River Falls for most of her life. She attended and graduated from River Falls High School in 1970. Sonya worked for 3M for almost 18 years.
Sonya was a Big Brothers and Big Sisters sponsor. She loved crafts, especially macramé. She also enjoyed bowling and loved to travel. Sonya loved life.
Sonya was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She is survived by her parents, Vernon and Virginia Van of River Falls; grandmother Margaret Brown; brother, Gary (Claudia) Van of River Falls; aunts and uncles, Mary-Lee and Kenneth, George and Pat, and June.
A funeral service for Sonya will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the River Falls United Methodist Church, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls.
