Second Chances store, inside

Over the weekend, backhoe and skid steer operators work to excavate and remove limestone and shale from a four-foot deep pit that will form the bottom of the enlarged, 10-by-10-foot elevator shaft that opens onto Riverwalk (alley) from behind the store. To be environmentally friendly and as a safeguard to the nearby Kinnickinnic River, the new elevator will run on vegetable oil instead of hydraulic fluid.
