Markunas, a self-employed remodeling construction worker, said kite enthusiasts in Britain and Italy will also be flying symbolic kites Oct. 7 in solidarity with River Falls. Markunas says everyone, adults and children, respond to the sight of skyward kites: “What’s not to like? For me, it brings a release of tension.
