Heavy fog, near-zero visibility leads to chain-reaction crash

Five vehicles got banged up in Thursday morning's dense fog on County Road FF west of Hwy. 29 in the town of River Falls. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, a 1989 Chevy truck driven by Steven Meads of rural River Falls was eastbound on FF when he swerved to avoid another car, also eastbound, that suddenly appeared in the fog ahead. Meads maneuvered over to the shoulder.
