Cats clinch second straight BRC golf title

All five Wildcats finished in the top ten to lead the River Falls girls’ golf team to a 16-stroke victory at the Big Rivers Conference Tournament on a blustery day Wednesday at the Hudson Golf Course.
The victory gave the Cats their second straight BRC championship.
River Falls finished with a total team score of 359. Hudson, led by medalist and BRC Player of the Year Cassie Wurm, finished second with 375. Rice Lake was third with 395 followed by Eau Claire Memorial with 397 and Eau Claire North with 402.
Kacey Simone paced River Falls with a third place score of 86 while Manuela Riascos finished fifth overall with 90. Halle Hauer was one stroke behind in sixth place with 91 and Mari Pechacek finished seventh with 92 while Katie Byron was tenth with 96.
Wurm carded a score of 79, five strokes better than second place Hannah Van Amber of Eau Claire Memorial, to earn her second straight BRC Player of the Year honor.
All five BRC teams will compete in the WIAA Division 1 Regional Tournament this Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake.
