The Green Bay Packers say they’ll talk with officials from the NFL’s finance committee this month about the possibility of selling more stock to help pay for a $143 million expansion at Lambeau Field.

The Packers plan to add 6,600 seats among other things. They’ll pay for the project themselves, but they have not decided yet whether to go ahead with another stock sale.

League officials say a final vote could come up in October, when team owners get together in Houston. Two-thirds of the 32 teams would have to approve the stock sale.

More than 112,000 people throughout the world own Packer stock. The shares have no monetary value and no benefits except for the bragging rights of being an NFL owner.

Green Bay has had four stock sales in its history. The last one was in 1997, when folks paid $200 each to help cover the cost of a 2003 Lambeau renovation.
