Letter: RF taxpayers are poorly represented on school finances

It’s a shame that there are too many conflicts of interest on the River Falls School Board for the River Falls taxpayers to have such a savings.
But according to a front-page piece in the River Falls Journal, we were saved by a “federal grant.”
Hmmm. That begs the question: Where did those federal dollars for that grant come from?
Could they be out of local taxpayers’ pockets after the appropriate federal “skim” had reduced what was taken by a significant amount?
Instead we will get the same old referendum we turned down before, only now we’re told it will be more expensive than the $38 million-plus it was the last time, and it will be broken down into chunks that are sugarcoated with phrases so it will be easier to swallow.
Sorry, but it still smells the same. Perhaps our board has its head someplace where they can’t see the current economic situation.
Now that’s something for taxpayers to think about.
