Former River Falls High School golfers Tyler Obermueller and Neil Johnson both survived the cut after the first two rounds of the Wisconsin State Open at Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.

Obermueller finished his first two rounds at 6-over-par 150, tied for 29th place, while Johnson finished right at the cut line at 9-over-par 153, tied for 46th.

Sixty-nine players advanced to Wednesday’s final 36 holes of the 72-hole stroke play tournament. The top 40 and ties from those that survived the cut will also earn themselves an exemption into the 2012 Wisconsin State Open at The Racine Country Club.

Another former Wildcat, Brent Heit, missed the cut with a two-day total of 157, 13-over-par.

Finding their way to the top of the leaderboard was two mini-tour professionals, Danny Zimmerman of Verona, and Charlie Delsman of Colgate. The two both ended Tuesday with a 36-hole total of 5-under-par 139.

Third round play started at 7:30 A.M. on Wednesday morning, with the final round kicking off at 1:00 P.M.
