A fisherman from Slinger (approximately 30 mi northwest of Milwaukee) set a new world record for the number of fish caught in one day.
Jeff Kolodzinski broke his own record when he hauled in 2,649 fish in a 24-hour period. His efforts earned money for the charity Fishing for Life.
Kolodzinski caught mostly bluegill and other pan fish from Lake Minnetonka, which is in a Twin Cities suburb. Kolodzinski was hauling the hungry fish in at a rate of 1.8 per minute.
He uses maggots and other small, live bait; a small, sensitive float; and a long fishing rod that functions like a cane pole.
