River Falls to celebrate Ethel Johnson Day

Ethel Johnson is an active member of several community organizations, she volunteers working with kids and charities, and she’s about to turn 90.
Monday, July 18 is Johnson’s birthday. It is also Ethel Johnson Day this year, as proclaimed by the River Falls City Council Tuesday July 12.
Johnson is involved in the Wisconsin Retired Educators’ Association, the American Association of University Women, and the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Women’s Leadership Conference. She helps make food for Grace Place, and listens to kids learning to read at Rocky Branch Elementary School in River Falls.
She is also a member of a book club and a writing club, and writes many blank verse poems, essays, and short stories.
Johnson is having a birthday party July 17, which her friends and family will attend, including her relatives from Norway.
Johnson has visited Norway four times, and has also visited Turkey, Iceland, and the Mediterranean. She hopes to visit Amsterdam in the future.
