River Falls town resident wants better road upkeep

The River Falls Town Board listened at its July 5 meeting while Wade Frevert, W10042 690th Ave., criticized the town’s road maintenance. “Other townships do 60 loads (of patching), you do two,” Frevert told the board, adding the quality of the town’s road was deteriorating.

The River Falls Town Board listened at its July 5 meeting while Wade Frevert, W10042 690th Ave., criticized the town’s road maintenance. “Other townships do 60 loads (of patching), you do two,” Frevert told the board, adding the quality of the town’s road was deteriorating.

Town Board Supervisor LeRoy Kusilek said, “We have sixty miles of roads.”

Frevert replied, “Grinding and replacing one mile a year isn’t going to get it done.”

Citing financial restrictions, Kusilek said, “The only way we can come up with more money (for roadwork), and we spend about $100,000 a year, is to put it to a (voter) referendum.”

Town Board Chairwoman Diana Smith said, “The town hired an engineering firm to assess which roads need to be done.”

Frevert said what was really needed was to “have a little pride in the town.”

Smith advised Frevert to submit his suggestions for better road upkeep in writing.

Supervisor Brad Mogen told Frevert: “Put it in writing. Anything you have. We always ask our citizens for good ideas.”
