Six Meyer Middle School Gold House eighth-grade students organized a fundraiser in the form of a Hawaiian luau held last month to benefit victims of the recent seasonal outbreak of devastating tornados, mainly in Alabama and Missouri.

As part of a class assignment called “Refresh the World,” the students raised $1,600 which was donated to the American Red Cross.

Contributions of more than 200 cans of non-perishable food items were also accepted during the luau, and the group donated them to the River Falls Food Pantry.
