Two men, ages 22 and 65, were taken to jail for their alleged role in a battery/disorderly conduct incident at the River Falls Motel, 1300 S. Main St., Sunday at 3:45 p.m. The 22-year-old man and his 21-year-old girlfriend live at the motel. They were in the process of breaking up and arguing about possessions. The young man’s 65-year-old grandfather from New Richmond apparently got in the middle of things and may have gotten physical and threatening with the young woman.

She tried phoning for help but had her cell phone taken away and busted. When officers arrived, she was crying and hysterical. Some toiletry and shampoo products were found scattered in the parking lot. Also some of her prescription medicine was missing.

The woman went to Turningpoint Domestic Abuse Shelter in River Falls.

The two suspects, who had left already, were contacted and questioned at nearby Kwik Trip. They denied any wrongdoing, but police said some of their answers didn’t add up. Both were taken to county jail and are awaiting charges from the district attorney.

River Falls police also:

--Finally caught one of two male suspects who seemed to be peering into windows of parked vehicles at Swede’s service station, corner of Main and Cascade, just after 2 a.m. Friday. Both men fled. were chased but got away. Again, for the third time in the past month, a fleeing suspect has used water as part of his escape route.

One of the suspects, a 22-year-old local man reappeared at Swede’s soon after officers regrouped. The man was wet and muddy, apparently from racing across campus, through the woods and into the South Fork river.

The man apologized, admitting he was urinating in Swede’s parking lot, and that he ran from police because he was scared.

He was given citations totaling $354 for obstruction and public urination.

--Cited an 18-year-old River Falls woman and a 19-year-old Prescott woman for disorderly conduct at Hoffman Park last week Tuesday evening. The two young women were allegedly yelling and using such profanity that others in the park, including those in their RVs, contacted police to complain. The fierce argument was over one of the women’s alleged racist postings on Facebook.
