River Falls observance to be held, part of earthquake/tsunami benefit

Traditional Japanese Tea Offering student Ben Gavin will lead an observance to recognize the recent Christchurch, New Zealand earthquake, and the Japanese earthquake and tsunami Friday night, April 29, at the Unitarian Universalist Society church in the town of River Falls, N8010 Hwy. 65. The program will run from 7-9 p.m.

Traditional Japanese Tea Offering student Ben Gavin will lead an observance to recognize the recent Christchurch, New Zealand, earthquake, and the Japanese earthquake and tsunami Friday night, April 29, at the Unitarian Universalist Society church in the town of River Falls, N8010 Hwy. 65. The program will run from 7-9 p.m.

Poetry and music will follow, including appearances by nationally published River Falls poet Thomas R. Smith; resophonic guitar master Dakota Dave Hull; national Gaelic Harp champion Chad McAnally; award-winning songwriter/guitarist Tommy Bentz; Skysong Production's Steve Sklar and Johnna Morrow; cellist Joanie Tool; folksinger Randall Burger; oldtime/historical musician Howard Hobbs; and River Falls songwriters Kinni Song Sisters.

There will be refreshments, including Highland Hollows coffee and bread donated by Red Horse Bakery.

A free will offering will also be collected for Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
