The River Falls Area Hospital Foundation’s recent scholarship awards will help four local non-traditional students pursue their studies in health care.
The $500 scholarships were awarded to Nanci Hanna-Hammond of River Falls, Jodi Bazille of Emerald, Jocelyn Gorham of Beldenville, and Jennifer Smith of Roberts. Hanna-Hammond is working on a respiratory therapy degree at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.
The goal of the Foundation’s Health Careers Scholarship Program for Non-Traditional Students is to increase the number of health care providers practicing in the region served by the hospital. In selecting award recipients, preference is given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to practice in the region.
Other factors that favorably influence selection include a work history in a hospital, clinic or other medical setting; demonstrated financial need; and demonstrated potential for academic success.
