All three Wildcat captains have been honored for their play this season by being named to the 2010-11 All-Big Rivers Conference Boys’ Hockey Team.
Senior co-captains Karl Andersen, Cooper Maxwell and Garrett Jensen were all named to the All-BRC second team in voting by the conference coaches. It’s the second straight season Andersen and Jensen have made the All-BRC team. In addition, Andersen also received honorable mention to the 2010-11 Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association All-State Team.
Andersen set a new school record for total points scored this season with 59, breaking the mark set by his older brother Ross just two years ago. He finished the year with 29 goals, including three game-winners and dished out 30 assists while posting a team-high plus/minus rating of 10. He was honorable mention All-BRC as a junior.
Jensen also earned a spot on the All-BRC second team after being an honorable mention selection a year ago. He started all but one game for the Cats in goal this season, posting a record of 14-8-0 with a 2.91 goals against average, a .903 save percentage and one shutout.
Maxwell was a stalwart on the blue line for the Wildcats this season, and contributed six goals and 14 assist for 20 points. Half of the senior defenseman’s goals came on the power play. It his first All-BRC honor.
Conference champion Eau Claire Memorial dominated the All-BRC teams with seven selections, including five of the six spots on the first team. Menomonie had four players honored and River Falls had three while Rice Lake and Hudson had two each and Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire North one apiece.
The Wildcats finished the season with a record of 7-5-0 in BRC play, 15-8-0 overall.
