BALDWIN – Wildlife biologists with the state Department of Natural Resources invite anyone interested in the status of the deer herd in St. Croix and Pierce counties to attend an open house public meeting from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin.
This is the first and best opportunity for hunters and other interested individuals to discuss the structure of the 2011 deer hunting seasons with DNR wildlife managers. Specifically, this meeting will focus on deer management units 60A, 60B and 60M.
Biologists will talk about the current size of the deer population in these DMUs and the strategy being suggested to manage these deer populations. Also on the agenda are deer harvest histories by unit and efforts to control CWD, a fatal disease affecting deer in south central Wisconsin.
Peace Lutheran Church is located at 2084 Co. Rd. N, Baldwin, at the intersection of Co. Rd. N and Hwy. 63.
