Police also this past week:
--Caught up with and arrested a 22-year-old New Richmond woman for allegedly stealing a cart full of groceries from EconoFoods. The woman pushed her cart through the south doors, which are less used. She was then seen on surveillance video taking the cart outside and walking around the back of the store and over to the north end parking lot. Her car was apparently parked there and she drove off. The woman, a former employee of EconoFoods, was recognized and called by police. She and her husband later appeared at the police station. The woman was given a $177 shoplifting fine. They also went back to EconoFoods to return $265.27 worth of groceries. Of that amount, $133.36 was no longer salable, so the couple wrote a check to cover that amount. The supermarket’s management also give the woman a no-trespass notice to the store.
--Arrested a 24-year-old Baldwin man for drunk driving-3rd offense and driving while suspended at 2:20 a.m. Sunday while heading north on the bridge over Hwy. 35. The suspect was stopped for speeding and erratic driving. He had trouble identifying himself and told the officer he lived in Baldwin, Minnesota.
The Baldwin, Wisconsin man was given fines totaling $964 and ended up in county jail in Hudson.
--Quelled fighting at Cudd’s trailer court in the afternoon between a 27-year-old woman and her boyfriend’s 54-year-old mother. All three, including the boyfriend, are listed as living at the same address. As officers arrived the two women were still grappling on the porch and had to be separated. A ceiling fan light bulb and a candle jar were found busted. There had been pushing, kicking and yelling, and it appears as if the women had each poured a can of pop on the other’s head. A 4-year-old daughter of the 27-year-old was briefly taken into protective care by Pierce County Human Services. The two women were eventually charged by the district attorney with disorderly conduct.
