Locals honor hometown hockey hero

Two-time Olympic medal winner and River Falls native Karyn Bye Dietz displays her gold medal for hockey from the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan and her silver medal from the 2002 Salt Lake City games to a group of youngsters at Wildcat Centre the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 19.
The River Falls Youth Hockey Association honored Bye Dietz by unveiling a permanent display case containing her Olympic jerseys and other memorabilia as part of USA Hockey’s “Hockey Weekend Across America.” Following the ceremony Bye Dietz spent time meeting and signing autographs for the large number of youths on hand.
