Chippewa Valley Technical College Business Management Instructor Julie Cross received the 2010 Fuerstenberg Teaching Excellence Award after being nominated by one of her students, Stacy Bishop, who says she gives 150%.
The award seeks to honor teachers who display excellence in teaching and learning, outstanding professionalism and positive student-teacher relationships. Cross graduated Menomonie High School then earned a bachelor’s degree from UW-Eau Claire and a master’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. Cross said she strives to help students learn not only the core competencies but also the “soft” skills employers seek such as communication, honesty, teamwork, interpersonal and analytical skills.
