Letter: For Jones

Clean water, clean air, a healthy environment are goals we can all agree to strive for and there are simple ways that we can help. Algae turns our lakes green, but using phosphorus-free fertilizer on our lawns reduces the amount of algae.

Clean water, clean air, a healthy environment are goals we can all agree to strive for and there are simple ways that we can help. Algae turns our lakes green, but using phosphorus-free fertilizer on our lawns reduces the amount of algae.

Farmers can reduce the amount of nitrogen used on their crops. We can buy local foods that are not genetically altered and buy eggs and meat from local farmers.

We can use re-useable bags when we go shopping instead of plastic or paper.

Isn’t it interesting that grocery stores have organic departments, food labels are touting the importance of vitamins and “green” products are appearing on store shelves?

Consumer pressure and spending is causing this phenomenon. We need to support a clean environment with our pocket books and votes.

Liz Jones was endorsed by Clean Wisconsin a statewide environmental group “dedicated to the defense of Wisconsin’s heritage.” Jones believes in preserving the environment not only for its own sake, but also to benefit the economy in the long term.

On Nov. 2 choose the candidate who will preserve our environment. Vote for Liz Jones.
