Golfers win regional title
Four members of the Wildcat girls’ golf team finished in the top ten to lead the Cats to a first place finish Wednesday at the WIAA Division 1 regional tournament in New Richmond. Four members of the Wildcat girls’ golf team finished in the top ten to lead the Cats to a first place finish Wednesday at the WIAA Division 1 regional tournament in New Richmond.
The Wildcats, along with New Richmond, Eau Claire Memorial and Hudson all advanced to Tuesday’s sectional tournament at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Course in Holmen.
River Falls carded a team score of 372 to win the regional title while New Richmond was second with 378, Eau Claire Memorial third with 380 and Hudson fourth with 390. Rice Lake finished fifth with 409, Superior was sixth with 423 and Eau Claire North seventh with 443.
Halle Hauer tied for fourth place with a score of 90 to lead the Wildcats while Mari Pechacek was sixth with 93, Kayla Swanson tied for seventh with 94 and Kacey Simone tied for ninth with 95.
Hudson’s Cassie Wurm earned medalist honors with 79.
