The River Falls Area Hospital Foundation’s fifth annual Harvest Moon Barn Dance will be on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Westridge Farms, just west of River Falls. The event will again benefit the foundation’s “Access to Care” fund, with a special focus on expanding access to cancer care services at River Falls Area Hospital and throughout the region.

“The Access to Care Fund supports programs that help people in our region access the health care services they need to get and stay healthy,” said Heather Logelin, director of the foundation. “By focusing this year’s event on cancer care, we are able to support the hospital and its partners as they work to improve local access to cancer care prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship programs.”

The Harvest Moon Barn Dance features a barbecue chicken dinner, a silent auction, raffles and live music by “The Whitesidewalls Rock ‘N’ Roll Revue.” Tickets include dinner and are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Event tickets can be purchased by phone, by mail, or at the hospital’s reception desk during regular business hours.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, and donations are being accepted for the silent auction and raffle; those interested in making a sponsorship gift or in-kind donation are asked to call Logelin at 715-426-4503.

More than 300 people attended the 2009 Harvest Moon Barn Dance, raising more than $65,000. The net proceeds were granted to the following organizations:

--Free Clinic of Pierce & St. Croix Counties
