For the third consecutive year, Wisconsin alumni will have a place to gather and visit during Wisconsin Farm Technology Days.
Although the Wisconsin Alumni Tent is becoming a tradition, the consortium of campuses aims each year to improve the experience.
The Wisconsin Alumni Tent can be found at Sixth Street (N) and Central Avenue in the heart of Tent City.
Alumni from any of University of Wisconsin or Wisconsin Technical College campuses are invited to stop by for one or more of the alumni receptions to be held each day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The campus consortium sponsoring the 2010 Alumni Tent includes: UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Fox Valley Technical College and Western Technical College.
Alumni stopping by the tent during the receptions can sample food from each campus or campus community.
UW-River Falls will offer Falcon Foods’ new signature cheese, Cobblestone Red. UW-Madison alumni will be treated to a selection of cheeses from Babcock Hall and its master cheese maker, Gary Grossen. UW-Platteville will offer a variety of sweet and savory gourmet popcorn samples from Rural Route 1 Popcorn.
In addition to the joint receptions and unique refreshments, there is one more change to the Alumni Tent in 2010. In the past the tent was only open for alumni receptions. This year the tent will be open all day. Each campus will have a display and faculty and staff on hand to answer questions.
Alumni who don’t make it to one of the receptions may stop by anytime to find out what’s happening at his or her alma mater and reconnect with former faculty and staff.
Wisconsin Farm Technology Days 2010 will be held on the Roger and Beverly Peterson Farm in Pierce County (just south of River Falls) July 20-22. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.
