The state DNR says there’s been a big increase in black-bear sightings in the more heavily-populated southern Wisconsin. Wildlife experts say the bears have not been overly aggressive, but they have ventured into urban areas to get food from bird feeders and patio grills.
In the past week alone, bears have been spotted in Mauston, Baraboo, and Wisconsin Dells. U-W Madison scientists have been trying to figure out why the bear population keeps going further south.
