Sunday morning Pierce County deputies responded to a crash with one serious injury on Hwy. 10 just east of County Road OO in the town of Trimbelle. Tyler Stees, 19, Hager City, was driving west in a mini-van when he hit a small deer crossing the highway. The deer was thrown in the air and into the eastbound lane of traffic. The animal fell through the windshield of a car driven by Gregory J. Spindler, 37, Shakopee, Minn., and landed on his passenger, Sarah A. Spindler, also of Shakopee.
She was taken from the crash scene by Ellsworth Ambulance to Red Wing Fairview Hospital.
A third vehicle driven by Nichole L. Frost, 31, Inver Grove Heights, Minn., was also eastbound on Hwy. 10 and rear-ended the Spindlers while trying to stop.
Ellsworth firefighters also responded to this Sunday crash that was called in at 8:13 a.m.
