HUDSON: Rotaract, Democrats meet

The St. Croix Valley Rotaract group meets at the Hudson Golf Club the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m. For more information, go to: www.scvrotaract.org.

The St. Croix County Democratic Party will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11, in room 212 of the Hudson Municipal Building, 911 Fourth St. University of Minnesota Professor Heidi Kitrosser will speak about the implications of a recent Supreme Court ruling. HUDSON: St. Patrick’s Day celebrated at Phipps

McInnis Kitchen, a fiddle-driven ensemble, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at The Phipps Center for the Arts to celebrate St. Patrick’s day. The group’s music is inspired by traditional Celtic music from Ireland, Newfoundland and the Canadian Maritimes. Tickets are $22 for adults; $15 for students with a current ID. HUDSON: Free legal clinic help available

The St. Croix Valley Bar Association will staff a free legal clinic from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in the St. Croix County Community Room of the St. Croix County Government Center. No appointment is necessary. The association will have attorneys on hand to meet with individuals for about 10 minutes to provide general information in the following areas of law: Employment law, family law, landlord/tenant and small claims, criminal/traffic, estate planning/elder law/probate, real estate, business law, and debtor/creditor. HUDSON: State park offers preschool class

A preschool class at Willow River State Park regarding deer will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Wednesday, March 9 and 10. Cost is $10 per child. AREA COUNTIES: Volunteers sought

The Pierce County Historical Association is seeking volunteers to staff its office. There is no age requirement or necessary skills needed. Training is provided. The PCHA office is located in the lower level of the Ellsworth Village Hall, behind the library and is now open from 1-4 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Christian Community Homes and Services is seeking a person to play piano and lead a sing-a-long to entertain residents; or play for worship services. For more information, call Brenda Magadanz at 381-4205 or send an e-mail to branda.magadanz@cchhudson.org.

Interfaith Volunteers are needed for the following tasks for persons in River Falls, Hudson or Roberts: Companionship, light housekeeping, substitutes for Home Delivered Meals program, transportation, activity assistants and respite care.

ROBERTS: Amateur radio class scheduled

A Ham Radio class with licensing exam will be offered at the Warren Town Hall Friday through Sunday, March 26-28. The class is $30 and students will need to purchase a $25 manual. The testing fee is an additional $15.

Training will begin Friday from 6-9:30 p.m.; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday; followed by testing from 3-5 p.m. Topics include: Safety, equipment definitions, electricity, signals and waves, antennas and propagation, personal experiences, operating regulations, and back up communication importance. The Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center, 200 Monroe St., lists these upcoming events during March.

The Last River Rat: Kenny Salway will talk about making a living in the backwaters of the Mississippi River; 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7; $3.

Volunteer Training-Eagle Watching: Volunteers opportunities and learning about eagles will be offered to interested persons; 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9.
