UW-RF women skate to 3-0 week

The UW-River Falls women’s hockey team won all three of its games last week, including a NCHA sweep of Finlandia at Hunt Arena.
UW-RF improved its record to 10-3-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NCHA and tied with UW-Eau Claire for fourth place in the league standings.
The Falcons will play a two-game NCHA series at UW-Stevens Point this weekend.
Last weekend the Falcons swept Finlandia, 10-1 Saturday and 4-2 Sunday at Hunt Arena.
Eight different Falcons scored goals in Saturday’s 10-1 victory. UW-RF scored twice in the first period before tacking on four goals in each of the final two frames. Finlandia’s only score came in the second.
Jessica Thompson had two goals and three assists and Alyssa Jackson had a pair of goals while Jamie Briski had a goal and three assists and Ashly Berner a goal and an assist.
Kayleigh Bell, Katie Flanagan, Abby Sunderman and Alyssa Black each contributed a goal in the win while Heather Horgan finished with three assists.
Cassi Campbell made nine saves in the first two periods while Shelby Rasmussen stopped all three shots she faced in the third.
Sunday, Briski scored two crucial goals as the Falcons made it a weekend sweep with a 4-2 victory.
Briski scored a power play goal 29 seconds into the third period that proved to be the game-winner and to gave the Falcons a two-goal cushion, 3-1. She added another goal at the 13:28 mark to make it a 4-1 game.
Bailey Vikstrom and Sunderman had first period goal to give UW-RF a 2-0 lead after one. Melissa Deardorff made nine saves in net as the Falcons outshot Finlandia 47-11.
Last Tuesday, Briski scored 18 seconds into overtime to lift the Falcons to a 2-1 nonconference victory over St. Thomas.
Bre Hrabe gave UW-RF a 1-0 lead just 1:37 into the game but the Tommies scored the only goal of the second to tie the score and force overtime.
Deardorff made 27 saves to earn the win in goal.
