Women reclaim first in WIAC

The Falcon women’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 88-59 win over UW-Platteville Saturday at Karges Centre.

The Falcon women’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 88-59 win over UW-Platteville Saturday at Karges Centre.

Earlier in the week the Falcons dropped their second game of the season, 67-52, to UW-La Crosse.

Saturday night’s win moved UW-RF back into first place in the WIAC standings with a conference record of 6-2. The Falcons, 14-2 overall, will visit UW-Stout (4-3, 9-7) Saturday at 4 p.m.

Last Saturday night, Taylor House scored 21 points and Brittany Gregorich had 13 points and nine rebounds in an 88-59 win over Platteville.

Twelve different Falcons scored at least four points in the game. UW-RF led 40-29 at halftime and by as many as 34 in the second half.

Last Wednesday against La Crosse, the Falcons trailed from the start on the way to their second straight loss, 67-52. Four nights earlier they dropped a 76-62 decision to UW-Whitewater.

Tiffany Gregorich scored 13 points and Maranda Dohrn had 10 in the loss to the Eagles while House finished with eight points and six rebounds.
