The Pierce County Snowmobile Council’s Web site declares that all Pierce County trails open at noon New Year’s Eve, including the St. Croix and Dunn County loop into Elmwood.
The council reminds riders to please respect the privilege private land owners afford them each year by allowing the county’s 222 miles of snowmobile trail to be located on their property. Snowmobilers should stay on marked trails and obey signs.

St. Croix County opened its 216 miles of snowmobile trail Dec. 25 but says some local trails may not be groomed as well as the state-funded parts. Find the St. Croix County snowmobile trail map at the county’s web site: www.co.saint-croix.wi.us/Departments/CountyPark/snowmobile.htm.
