Clues sought for Schwan’s robber

The man who held up a Schwan’s female truck driver on Friday night, Nov. 20, still hasn’t been caught. River Falls police are hoping to have a composite sketch of the suspect available in a few days. As soon as it is, look for that picture on this website and in the Journal’s print edition.

The man who held up a Schwan’s female truck driver on Friday night, Nov. 20, still hasn’t been caught. River Falls police are hoping to have a composite sketch of the suspect available in a few days. As soon as it is, look for that picture on this website and in the Journal’s print edition.

Sgt. Jon Aubart again said police would welcome any information from the public on the robbery outside the Schwan’s depot, 1050 Benson St., in the city’s industrial park just east of North Main Street.

Here’s the suspect’s description: white male, early 40s, mustache, slender, about 5-10, 150 pounds.

The Schwan’s driver was unhurt. The robber took cash from her business wallet. He held a steel rod for a weapon.

Call River Falls police at 425-0909 if you have leads that might help solve this crime.

Also in the last week, police have:

  • Arrested and jailed a 44-year-old local woman for disorderly conduct in her apartment in the 1200 block of Bartosh Lane Sunday night. The woman, after arguing with her live-in boyfriend, allegedly pushed him over as he sat in a rocking chair after first grabbing his throat. She is also alleged to have threatened to slit his throat when he went to sleep.

  • Arrested a 20-year-old UW-RF student for littering, underage drinking and an I.D. violation last week Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. by the bridge over the South Fork on Main Street. When confronted about an open beer can, the student allegedly tossed the beer into the river, then claimed he never had any alcohol. He was also found to have an I.D. with another name that showed he was 21. A 20-year-old Woodbury, Minn., woman who was with him also got cited for underage drinking. She complained about the citation, saying because she cooperated with police, she didn’t deserve to be fined.

  • Investigated the destruction of holiday ornaments in a front yard in the 100 block of South Third Street late Friday night. Someone ripped out reindeer, a sleigh, a Santa and a lighted Christmas tree that were staked to the ground. These were found strewn by the curb and in the street. The homeowners were reported to be upset by the vandalism. Damage estimate, $800.
