Wildcat girls run to 10th place at state; Skorseth finishes 16th

River Falls' girls cross country team finished 10th in a field of 20 teams at the WIAA Division 1 team Cross Country state competition held Saturday at The Ridges golf course.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- River Falls' girls cross country team finished 10th in a field of 20 teams at the WIAA Division 1 team Cross Country state competition held Saturday at The Ridges golf course.

The Wildcat girls were led by freshman Paige Skorseth, finishing 16th in the field at 15 minutes, 12 seconds.

Finishing ahead of RF in the girls division was Wausau East, followed by Whitefish Bay, Neenah, Homestead, Madison West, Janesville Craig, Kenosha Tremper, Germantown and Waukesha West.

The Hudson Raiders boys cross-country team finished fifth against 19 competitors. Senior Jacob Ball paced the Division 1 Raiders, finishing 15th in the field with 16 minutes, 29 seconds.

Outrunning the Hudson boys to take first place was Brookfield Central, followed by Marquette University High, Stevens Point and Neenah.

In Division 2 boys competition, St. Croix Central junior Brett Johnson finished 11th at 16 min., 40 seconds. In Division 2 girls, freshman Victoria Simones of Prescott finished in 22nd place with a time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds. Somerset sophomore Tia Belter finished 64th with 16 minutes, 27 seconds.

In Division 3, Spring Valley freshman Breanna Colbenson, finished sixth with a time of 15 minutes, 28 seconds.

In a 6 p.m. contest Saturday at nearby Stevens Point, the Hudson Raider boys football team fell to Stevens Point, 28-8, in a contest that would have sent them to Camp Randall Stadium on Nov. 20th. Hudson ends its season at 9-2.
