River Falls police are trying to find those responsible for setting fire to the northside dumpster area of Rocky Branch Elementary School just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. A caller to the Pierce County Sheriff Department dispatcher said flames were visible.

Police Chief Roger Leque said a patrol officer arrived first and tried to put out the blaze with fire extinguishers.

It wasn’t until firefighters came soon after that the flames were completely doused.

There were four school trash cans burned.

Leque said the incident is under investigation.
