River Falls’ junior Marty Herum and senior Tyler Hunter have both been named to 2009 All-Northwest District Baseball teams.

In addition, Herum was named to the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-State third team.

Both players were previously named to All-Big Rivers Conference teams for their performance on the field for the Wildcats this season.

“It’s nice to see both Marty and Tyler recognized as not only some of the best players in the conference, but as some of the best players in northwest Wisconsin,” Wildcat head coach Ryan Bishop said. “They both had great seasons in helping our team this past spring.”

Herum is one of just two underclassmen to earn a spot on the All-Northwest first team and one of just nine underclassmen on the entire all-state squad. He batted .554 overall and .655 in BRC play while hitting five home runs, four triples, nine doubles and driving in 27 runs, all team highs.

Hunter was named to the All-Northwest second team after hitting .411 and scoring a team-high 31 runs. He also tied Herum for the team lead in doubles with nine.

The Wildcats finished the 2009 season with a record of 16-12.
