U12 softball looks to postseason

The River Falls U12 Gold softball team will travel to North St. Paul this weekend to play in its league tournament after wrapping up the regular season with a record of 14-10-2.

The River Falls U12 Gold softball team will travel to North St. Paul this weekend to play in its league tournament after wrapping up the regular season with a record of 14-10-2.

Last week the squad split a doubleheader with Moundsview, Minn., and tied and won in a doubleheader with Roseville, Minn. Monday night the team was swept by Centennial, Minn., in its final action of the regular season.

River Falls lost its first game against Moundsview, 5-0, last Monday. Hallie Hauer had two hits in the loss and Mikayla Hansen had one.

In the nightcap, Hauer, Hansen, Linzie Gineau, Marissa Stoffel, Carlie Christensen and Sydney Mueller each had a hit in a 6-3 River Falls win.

Wednesday night the squad tied Roseville, 5-5, in the first game of a doubleheader before stepping up and winning the nightcap, 14-0.

This Monday night the girls were swept by Centennial, 10-2 and 12-1. Jordan Sather had four hits on the night while Mueller, Christensen, Hauer, Gienau, Tori Matzek, and Hayden Kusilek all added hits.

After competing in the league tournament this weekend in North St. Paul, the Gold team will travel to Kimberly July 10-12 to play in the state tournament.
