Crystal Lanning has been named the assistant athletic director at UW-River Falls.
Lanning replaces Patti Ford, who was the assistant athletic director for the past eight years. Ford will remain as the Falcon head volleyball coach. She starts her 18th season with the Falcons this fall.
“Crystal is ready for the next phase of her very young career,” said Falcon athletic director, Rick Bowen. “Her organizational skills and great personality will be a tremendous asset to me and the staff. She will also be great in her role as senior woman administrator. I am fortunate to have somebody of her skills and familiarity with the department be able to step in and replace Patti. I look forward to working with her. I also want to wish Patti well as she devotes more time to Falcon volleyball. I know this was a very difficult decision for her. I thank her for her service the past eight years.”
Lanning, who begins her duties on July 1, has been the assistant athletic trainer at UW-RF since 2004 and she will remain in that position. She has also worked with the Institute for Athletic Medicine since 2004 and helped provide athletic training coverage for the 2008 USGA U.S. Women’s Open. She has also taught in the UW-RF health & human performance department.
Before coming to UW-RF Lanning worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Centre College in Danville, Ky. She earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Winona State University in 2002 and her master’s degree in kinesiology and health promotion from the University of Kentucky in 2004.
