A 17-year-old local boy was charged with a felony last month for burglarizing a town of River Falls home. Among the things he allegedly stole were a locked safe and expensive jewelry. The boy, out on bail, was recently picked up again for bail jumping after an incident downtown when he drove by in a car and yelled a profanity at one of the homeowners.

The burglary occurred Friday, March 27. Thousands of dollars of items were taken from the unlocked, unoccupied house. The family returned later in the day and slowly figured out all that was missing.

Family heirloom jewelry pieces, including a 14-karat gold ring with ten round, brilliant cut diamonds valued at nearly $10,000, was among the many missing possessions.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies were called right away to the scene.

The 17-year-old boy, who had stayed for a while at the house, was immediately identified as the suspect. A student in River Falls at the Renaissance Academy, the boy was arrested and charged within days after the burglary investigation began.

The boy faces a felony bail jumping hearing next week Tuesday morning and a pretrial hearing next Wednesday afternoon in Pierce County Circuit Court.
