Brewers’ general manager Doug Melvin denied reports that he might shake up the starting rotation by bringing in free agent Pedro Martinez.
Melvin said Monday there was nothing to the Martinez rumors and the Brewers’ starting pitching has not been that bad.
Melvin said they’ve had 11 quality starts in their first 18 games, in which they gave up three earned runs or less in at least six innings per start.
Manny Parra has struggled the most, going 0-4 with an ERA of almost 6.5. Manager Ken Macha says Parra needs to relax a bit, and throw his change-up some more.
