River Falls Municipal Utilities is asking electric customers behind on bills to make payment arrangements to avoid service disconnections.
Wisconsin’s Winter Emergency Period – a moratorium on residential disconnects – ends Wednesday, April 15. After that utilities may cut off customers who haven’t paid their electric bills.
“Sadly, this is an issue we must address with more and more customers each year,” said RFMU’s Jan Lorenz. “It is, however, (our) goal to do what we can to collect unpaid bills from the moratorium to keep electric rates low in our community.”
Customers can call RFMU to arrange a payoff schedule for their bills. Lorenz said the utility will negotiate various options.
Call RFMU at 425-0906 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays to settle past bills.
