Letter: For the record, Democrats have caused financial mess

Week after week I’m frustrated and saddened when I read letters from those who take information out of context, attempt to re-write history to suit their misguided arguments, and use their creative writing skills in yet another attempt to influence those who don’t question either the content or the context.

Last week James Nelson reported that 40% of the budget “pork” in the stimulus bill came from Republicans. He forgot to mention that the bill started out as a “wish list” just like a child’s Christmas list, where any project could be proposed.

Remember that it was the Democrats who approved this outlandish bill without reading it, while the Republicans fought tooth and nail to not pass the stimulus bill until it was reviewed, debated and unnecessary “pork” could be eliminated.

Obama and his left wing supporters however, decided that the 1,100-page document needed to be passed only a few short hours after being published, ensuring that no one who voted on the bill could possibly have the chance to read the document and debate its contents.

Our current financial crisis was set in motion by Democrats such as Chris Dodd, Barnie Frank, and others who forced banks to make unsecured loans to individuals who could not afford to pay their mortgage payments. President Bush warned against doing this, but unfortunately at the time, Congress already had a Democrat majority.

Sadly, the same misguided Democrats who created the financial crisis have now been put in charge of solving it. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve recognized that the Democrats want as many citizens as possible dependant on the government for their well-being.

This ultimately gives the government more and more power over the people, which ultimately results in diminished freedoms and eventual tyranny.
